TASK ONE • Using a mind map to assist you, think of as many names as you can for your gimmick product • Highlight the one you are going to use • Practice a lettering style suitable to place on the gimmick can • Gather four examples of caned products from magazines, junk mail or any other source. Cut them out and lay them up on a sheet of A4 paper and write comments beside each one about colour, shading, text, etc..

  5. TASK TWO • Using your freehand sketch three large pictorial cans onto a sheet of A3 paper • On the first can practice shading using suitable colours • On the second can develop the product name (follow the curve of the can) • On the third can combine colours and lettering to develop the final product sample (make the can look realistic)

  6. TASK THREE • Cut out the third can only • Develop a background using pastels and other techniques (when choosing colours for the background use colours that make the can stand out) • Paste the cutout can onto the background • Sign your work and write your full name clearly on the back of the drawing
