Motor Starting Methods • Reduced-Voltage-Starting. • Used when starting current is too high for the system to tolerate. • Need special method such as timers or speed switches to make the transition from reduced voltage to full voltage. • Transition usually timed so that it occurs when rotor is at 90% of rated speed.
