  6. What can be achieved with the SDK?

DB2 Web Query SDK • Generate the WSDL file. • Consume the web service in EGL. • If populating drop down lists XML files will need to be written out. • Read the XML files and populate the dropdown lists. • The combo boxes are dynamically loaded when a value is selected in the previous dropdown. • When the ‘run’ button is clicked, this calls the web service passing parameters. • The output is returned to the screen.

DB2 Web Query SDK Continued • The web service signs on to DB2 web query and calls the report you have specified. • If the procedure called is a graph then another web service must be called to retrieve the image in a byte array. • Because the original web service will return the location of the image (not the image itself).

Report Broker integration • Report broker can also be called with web services. • A web service must be called to retrieve a security token from the scheduler and stored. • Another web service can then be called using the security token and the schedule name, to retrieve the schedule information. • Finally the schedule can then be run from another web service call.
