The Friendly Kitchens Alliance was established to advocate for the use of ‘friendly food’ across restaurants and institutional kitchens, emphasizing animal-friendly, environmentally sustainable, and health-conscious options. Launched in 2008, the campaign promotes delicious, regional, organic, and fresh dishes in care facilities like hospitals and nursing homes, where food quality is often lacking. With a focus on combating malnutrition among the elderly and enhancing mealtime enjoyment, the initiative encourages collaboration with regional producers to improve food quality and accessibility in care settings across the Netherlands.
