CCT meeting in May 2003 • M. de Groot presented the • Review Protocol for Thermometry CMCs • prepared by the Inter-RMO review committee and explained the ARV for CCT-K3 • The CCT recognized the efforts of the review committee and recommended that the uncertainty of the ARV be taken as the simple average of the uncertainties of the mean, the weighted mean and the median. • Inter-RMO review committee has become CCT-WG 8 (CMC WG) as a consequence of the recommendation of JCRB

  4. CCT meeting in May 2003 • Discussion on ITS-20XX • R. Rusby presented the outcome of survey on current limitations of ITS-90: • no answers were collected ! • But: CCT needs to look ahead to anticipate changes which will be required: • Officially promoted approx. of ITS-90 • Lower temperature radiation thermometry • New thermocouple functions • CCT shall continue to monitor future needs

  5. 22nd CGPM – General Conference for Weights and Measures,October 2003 • 12 official resolutions were made: • Resolution 9: Requirements for cross-border transport of measurement standards, metrological equipment and reference materials • Resolution 10: Symbol for the decimal marker • Resolution 11: Relationship between National Metrology Institutes and nationally recognized accreditation bodies

Requirements for cross-border transport of measurement standards, metrological equipment and reference materials • The 22nd General Conference, Resolution 9 • Considering • · recent events that are understandably requiring stricter control of container, luggage and carry-on belongings of national and international travellers, as well as unaccompanied packages, • · that these controls are making it more and more difficult, and sometimes impossible, to transport equipment, standards, and reference materials that are needed for comparisons of national measurement standards, … • Recommends • that national metrology institutes, government bodies and international organizations responsible for the control and regulation of the movement of goods and substances, all work with relevant bodies to investigate, propose and implement special procedures that relate to the free and unimpeded movement of metrological materials and equipment among national metrology institutes, designated institutes and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, …

News from the JCRB • New Chairman : Prof. Andrew Wallard • New Executive Secretary : Dr. Ismael Castelazo • End of the transition period (31 December 2003) • All CMCs now have to be supported by a Quality System in place and by results of comparisons. • If QS not yet in place, at least schedule for implementation is needed. • Meetings • 12th JCRB meeting: 3-4 May 2004, CENAM • 13th JCRB meeting: 30 Sept – 1 Oct 2004, BIPM • JCRB workshop, 29 Sept 2004: General overview over QS in the regions • Still no thermometry CMCs !!

Status of CCT-K7 • Measurements started in December 2002 • finished in June 2003 • 20 transfer cells + 2 BIPM cells • measured at least 2 times • 7 groups of 8-9 cells • immersion profile for each cell • 1 instable transfer cell: laboratory asked to provide 2. cell • measured at BIPM in Jan-Feb 2004 • 2 reports of return measurement missing, • R White (MSL) currently checking our calculations • Draft A before summer holidays • Presentation at TempMeko is planned but depends on progress with Draft A
