Brief History… • The summer of 1965, a University of Florida assistant coach was curious why so many of his players were being affected by heat and heat related illnesses. • University Physicians discovered the fluids and electrolytes the players lost through sweat were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates the players’ bodies used for energy were not being replenished.

  3. What’s In Gatorade? • H20 Water • C6H12O6 Glucose • C12H22O11 Sucrose • C6H12O6 Fructose • NaCl Sodium Chloride • C6H5Na3O7 Sodium Citrate • C3H4OH(CO2H)3 Citric Acid • H2KO4P Monopotassium Phosphate

  4. How Does Gatorade Work? • The 6 % of Carbohydrate Solution in Gatorade helps working muscles fight fatigue and gain energy. By absorbing into the body faster than water, Gatorade helps the body maintain hydration which ensures peak performance.
