Focus of this presentation: • How mobile devices assist learning • Examples of how I have used mobile devices to assist my teaching
Research in the area of Mobile technologies and literacy • Leu et al (2004) • Technologies have come to redefine literacy • Difficult to define as they change so rapidly • McClanahan et al (2012) • iPad helped ADHD student focus attention • more metacognitive in reading • “1 years growth in 6 weeks” • Increased confidence and sense of control over learning
