  1. Global Warming By: Tyler HosfordEnvironmental science

  2. The basics • Some of the basics that probably everyone knows would be that the carbon emissions released into the atmosphere by cars, Factories and any kind of vehicle or station that releases CO2 into our atmosphere is heating up the globe. In consequences that can only be described as catastrophic because of the harm in the future its going to have. Already its damaging the worlds glaciers and the Arctic ice cap.

  3. How the earth heats up • When the suns rays come to the earth they often bounce off the earth and go back out to space but when the atmosphere is high in CO2 it creates a layer that keeps all of the suns ray inside the atmosphere of the earth therefore raising the earths temperature. This is causing drought and floods because when water is displaced it gets relocated so maybe one region has a flood. But there neighbor is having a drought because of the major displacement of water.

  4. Arctic ice cap • The Arctic ice cap is a huge mass of ice that acts as a giant mirror to the suns rays. Currently this mirror is melting and when it does melt the ocean around it soaks up the suns rays like a sponge because the open water cannot deflect it. And when the suns rays are soaked up the area heats up quite dramatically and speeds the melting of the ice cap. If this ice cap melts you will see a huge increase in the severity of storms (hurricanes, tornados, etc) because the open heat of the ocean powers a storm.

  5. Glaciers • The worlds glaciers are taking a beating because of global warming. The people going up to the glaciers notice that what there seeing is still a massive wall of ice. But it’s a massive melting wall of ice and often the glaciers break apart and fall into the water.

  6. What happens when glaciers melt • When the glaciers melt you will see a dramatic increase in the height of the water which if all the glacier were to melt would flood a high majority of cities and towns close to the water and low to sea level and this means that a lot of major cities are going to flood and its going to ruin many lives. Can it be helped? Possibly with all the technology we have now. But it would be great to rely on our instinct to protect our planet from global warming so we don’t got to “trust technology”.

  7. Factories • Factories can be a huge problem because there constantly pumping harmful chemicals into the atmosphere some factories have a converter where they can clean the chemicals up a bit. But I think more factories should be able to clean up there emissions before there released into the atmosphere.

  8. What can we do stop global warming? • Well here are some solutions to the above question. We can reduce car emissions by riding a bike whenever possible. Or car pooling whenever possible to reduce the amount of people using there cars. We can think about the factories and how we can get them to use cleaner fuel so it doesn’t release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere or use a converter to make the harmful fuels ok for the atmosphere to use.
