HISTORY AND TODAY

Standardized testing has undergone significant changes since its inception, becoming a pivotal tool for measuring student success and failure. While proponents argue it plays a crucial role in determining academic progress and identifying areas needing improvement, critics highlight its limitations. Standardized tests often fail to account for diverse learning styles, may not accurately reflect the curriculum, and can unfairly disadvantage students. This discussion examines both the advantages and drawbacks of standardized assessments in education, raising the question of their necessity for all students.
