Gothic Churches • Sculptors carved lifelike sculptures and scenes from the Bible on the indoor and outdoor walls • Fairytale animals and creatures included. • Stained glass windows were very popular. • Windows helped illiterate people understand the bible. • The stained glass brought color into the church.
Paintings and Tapestries • Artists would decorate books with little pictures called illumination, and they were made with a lot of color and detail. • People who could not read could look at the picture and understand what the page was about. • Artists would also create paintings in fabric and thread called tapestries and were used for decoration and to keep out cold drafts inside the stone churches.
