Groundbreaking Transmission Grid Investment February 20, 2014 Copenhagen Infrastructure invests in new offshore grid connection for North Sea wind farms Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, funded by PensionDanmark, Denmark’s largest labor market pension company, has announced a EUR 348 million investment in the DolWin3 offshore grid in the North Sea. The investment is a joint investment with the Dutch company TenneT. The DolWin3 offshore grid connection, which will supply electricity to the mainland from a number of wind farms in the German North Sea, is planned to be completed in 2017 and will have a capacity of 900 MW. Transmission grid infrastructure is subject to unbundling requirements as set out in the EU’s 3rd Energy Package, which restrict investors’ ability to hold certain rights in both energy generation and energy transmission assets across the EU.
