EDUCATION SCOPE (p. ii) Lola Jordan, Director of Community Impact, Education Education Scope: (p. ii in application) Programs, services, supports, and activities that prepare children and youth to be ready for, and maintain success in school, ensuring that they have the social, emotional, and intellectual tools to attain academic success. United Way of Broward County believes learning begins at birth and continue throughout life, and that we focus on and appreciate all aspects of academic learning, from preschool through high school and beyond. Families in high needs, at-risk communities are often unable to provide their children with cultural arts and enrichment activities; these pursuits are vital in teaching critical thinking, creativity and reflection and in helping children develop a sense of the world outside of their impoverished surroundings.

  4. EDUCATION SCOPE • Education Outcomes: (p. 7,8,9 in application) Choose at least two outcomes/indicators from the charts listed on page 8 and/or 9. Develop at least two additional outcomes, ideally for a total of two short-term and two long-term outcomes. Additionally, develop appropriate Activities/Outputs and Evaluation /Measurement Methodology for each.

EDUCATION SCOPE—SCHOOL READINESS • Education Outcomes: (p. 8 of the application) • Programs, services, supports, and activities that prepare children and youth to be ready for, and maintain success in school, ensuring that they have the social, emotional, and intellectual tools to attain academic success. • Quality early education that leads to school readiness (birth – 5 yrs old) • .

  6. EDUCATION SCOPE—ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT • Education Outcomes: (p. 9 of the application) • Academic Achievement (elementary, middle and high school students equipped with the tools they need to improve their academic and social skills).

  7. FATAL FLAW REVIEW (p. 11) Failure to comply with, complete, or cure the required items listed below that apply to the Applicant Agency’s will result in a Fatal Flaw and removal of the application from further consideration of approval.

  9. Outcomes—p. 32 Outcomes Complete the Program Outcome Form “FORM 6”. Choose at least two outcomes/indicators from the charts listed on page 8 and/or 9. Develop at least two additional outcomes, ideally for a total of two short-term and two long-term outcomes. Additionally, develop appropriate Activities/Outputs and Evaluation /Measurement Methodology for each. Please note that Program Outcome Forms are not limited to one page and will not be counted toward any application page limit. OUTCOMES--TERMINOLOGY • Activities: What the program does with the inputs to fulfill its mission; activities are what you do with your inputs. • Outputs: The direct products of program activities; what you produce or your numbers/quantity served. • Indicators are the visible, measurable evidence that demonstrate that the outcomes are being achieved—specific information collected to track the program’s success—usually stated as target or percentage of attainment • Outcomes are the benefits for participants during and after program activities. Outcomes are new knowledge, new skills, or new behaviors that lead to your client’s improved condition. • Outcomes flow from activities and link to each other over an identified period of time and link back to program description/goals and mission.
