  4. STRATEGY:Make inferences and analyze Authors don’s always tell us every detail We have to analyze, or look carefully, at the information We have to make inferences, or figure out, what is happening We use what we already know to do this!

  5. SKILL: fact and opinion • FACT: Statement that can be proved true • OPINION: shows what a person or group believes, thinks, or feels about something or someone.

  6. PREVIEW & PREDICT When I say “Go”, take 1 minute to preview the illustrations. • Skim text when previewing • Ask questions before reading • Use section headers to make predictions Ask yourself: • What do you think you will learn about carousels? On your index card, write what you think this story is about. After we listen to the story, we will check your predictions.
