  1. Carousel Brainstorming Objective: Participants share successes and barriers that they encountered when trying to address the diverse needs of all learners; this establishes common background knowledge from which to draw upon during the day.

  2. Carousel Brainstorming • What are the key ideas of Universal Design for Learning? • What are the key ideas of Differentiated Instruction? • What are the most significant barriers to learner success? • What are the most significant factors to ensure student success?

  3. Form Carousel Groups • Introduce yourself to the new group (5 minutes) • Take a few minutes to set roles in the (3 minutes) group: facilitator, reporter, timekeeper • Begin activity

  4. Carousel Activity • Form groups • Each group records responses to questions on the chart paper • Group moves to the next question, reads ideas, and adds additional information • Continue until the cycle is complete • Last group highlights three top ideas to report to larger group
