Main aims of the Platform activity • to build a platform between science and industry in scope of development of new Biotechnologies • to integrate key economic and research partners interested in technologies based on bioprocesses • to build a strategy for developing modern Biotechnology in Poland • to elaborate implementation methods of new biotechnologies in industrial processes, health care, environment and agriculture • to take optimum advantage from Structural Funds • to participate actively in European Research Programmes • to promote processes and products of Biotechnology • to cooperate in creating the policy and law facilitating development of Biotechnology

National Framework Programme Key Research areas: • Industrial Biotechnology: • Replacement of traditional non-biological industrial processes with bioprocesses and obtaining high added-value products: • - bio-pharmaceutics • - new biocatalysts • - particular chemicals and semi-finished products for pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry • - new generation food products • - bio-pesticide • Production of biomaterials (e.g. bio-degradating plastics) and bio-fuels from renewable raw materials • Bioremediation

National Framework Programme Key Research areas: • Biotechnology in Medicine • Molecular diagnostics • Therapy and prevention • Biotechnology in Agriculture • Obtaining plants resistant to patogens, pests and abiotic stressful factors • Obtaining higher crops and agri-food production of high quality • Lunching of transgenic plants for production of vaccines, recombined proteins and as renewable raw materials • Plants production for industrial biotechnology sector
