  2. US Ocean Action Plan “Through the Committee on Ocean Policy, the NSTC Joint Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology will lead the effort to coordinate Federal and Federally-supported mapping activities for the U.S coastal and marine environment.”

Interagency Working Group on Ocean and Coastal Mapping • Established by JSOST in 2006 • Co-chaired by USACE, MMS, USGS and NOAA • Facilitates coordination and leveraging of OCM • activities and resources across the Federal sector and • with State, industry, academia and NGOs • OAP – “Activities should include the development of • an annual inventory of Federal, Federally-funded, and • non-Federal governmental OCM and charting • programs, operations and prioritized needs.”

Ocean and Coastal Mapping Inventory • Interagency effort to improve the efficiency of the • Nation’s ocean and coastal mapping activities • The Inventory will – • be a clearinghouse of OCM geospatial data • be registry of planned and completed mapping • activities • be built within Geospatial One-Stop portal • will maximize discoverability of OCM data • will minimize duplication of data acquisition • efforts

  6. OMB Geospatial Data Reporting Requirements “Agencies are to report on budgeted geospatial data investments for the current year by posting their data acquisitions and production on the Geospatial One-Stop data partnership “Marketplace.” “An agency that invests $500,000 or more on all investments combined to acquire or produce data must report.”
