Job Description • Maintain communication between the parents and staff • Maintain regular communication with parents. • Make sure that students amplifications uses is working. • Make sure the learning environment is appropriate. • help students make goals. • Make educational program for student. • Report on students goals. • Makes sure that students follow all rules. • Provide academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students.

  3. Education Needed • Masters degree in deaf education • Bachelors degree in education • Knowledge of sign language • Knowledge of auditory equipment • Knowledge of elementary to high school academic curriculum

  4. Salary • Its based on the education and the skill of the teacher • An average salary would be $3250 - $6000 a month • The quality of the education also plays a factor in the salary received

Outlook • Teachers for the deaf are in demand because: • Rising enrollment of special need children • Easier and earlier identification of hearing lost in children • The lack of actual certified teachers • Teachers are needed for the education of deaf children and their parents, social and emotional needs and basic living needs

  6. Residential Schools • Work with students in the classroom and help with adjusting to the campus • Behavior and social interactions • Work closely with families • About $3250 - $6000 monthly

  7. Public Schools • Leans more to teaching oral skills but will use any form of education • Tries to get deaf students to blend in with hearing students • Works with parents • Salary is on average $46,000 a year
