Teaching • The definition of a teacher: • “One that teaches” • “One whose occupation is to instruct” (Webster) • What makes a great teacher? • Set high expectations for all students • Always being prepared • Always showing you care about them as people • Having great knowledge of what they teach • “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” ~Albert Einstein ( Degree-Tree) • “Obstacles: frightful things you see if you take your eyes off the goal.” – Henry Ford ( Teaching with Purpose)

Advantages/Disadvantages of being a Teacher • Advantages • Having the ability to influence children at a very young age (work-cron) • Being able to teach children about the Bible at a young age • Disadvantages • “Having to deal with budget cuts” (work-cron) • Having to deal with parents who do not trust or believe in the teachers ability to teach their kids.

Teaching Requirements • General Requirement • “Bachelor’s degree” • “Student teaching experience” • “Teaching certificate” • Certification areas include: • “Elementary (K-6)” • “Middle grades (6-9)” • “Secondary grades (9-12)” • “Special subjects (K-12)” • “Exceptional children (K-12)” ( Degree-Tree)

  5. Salaries • Our future salaries • Your salary will be determined by your school district • In North Carolina it varies • From $30,430 to $64,750 (Degree-tree)

  6. Future Schooling • Degrees • A teaching degree requires about 4 years of schooling • You can have a minor in a subject along with your degree • Schools offering a teaching degree • Southeastern FWB College • Pensacola Christian College • Bob Jones University • Campbell University
