Opening an application • Once you open an application, immediately click • File • Save
Save to your I:drive folder • A pop-up menu will appear. Click on the yellow folder with the green arrow until you see ‘My Computer’ in the menu box • If available, you may click on the drop-down list and choose ‘My Computer” drop-down list
Save to your I:drive folder • Double click on ‘My Computer’
Save to your I:drive folder • Click on the (I:) drive. It will have the letters CTE in the drive name. • Click ‘Open’
Save to your I:drive Student folder • Double click on ‘Students’. • Find the folder with your name and double click on it.
Saving files • Double click on the folder named for this class and the sub-folder for the Unit. • Save the file name with your last name, first initial and the number of the activity or project you are completing. Click ‘Save’. • Example: • If you are completing Activity 1.8 Learning to Save files, you will name and save the file as Canadyt1.8 • You may add a descriptor if you’d like. Your file may be saved as Canadyt1.8savingfiles
Saving files • Save your work often (every 2-4 minutes) and especially after major changes. • Do not click the ‘Save As’ button, this button is not the same as clicking ‘Save’ • There are several places available students may save a file, be sure to save your work for this course in the correct folder. I will only look in the appropriate folder to locate your work for grading. • Be sure to save the file with the correct name so that I may be able to determine what file to grade.
