  7. Mathematics (4 credits) • Algebra I • Geometry • Algebra II • 4th Math Course (Math Modeling, Advanced Math Reasoning, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, or Calculus BC) • If taking Math Modeling, it MUST be taken before Algebra II

  8. Science (4 credits) • Biology • Chemistry • Physics or Principles of Technology, • Fourth science class (IPC, Advanced Biotech, SR&D Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Aquatic Science, Earth and Space Science, Environmental Systems, or Astronomy) • If taking IPC, it must be taken BEFORE Chemistry and Physics • IPC does NOT count toward the DAP (students who take IPC can double up on science later)

Physical Education (1.5 credits) • Includes Personal Fitness • Can substitute Athletics, Drill Team (Belles), Marching Band, Dance Guard, or Cheerleading • Approved OCPE Waiver (Off Campus PE) • Anderson Sports: Baseball Football Basketball Soccer Cross Country Softball Track and Field Volleyball Wrestling Tennis GolfSwimming • Lacrosse is offered as an OCPE course

International Baccalaureate • IB Learners strive to be: Inquirers Open-minded Knowledgeable Caring Thinkers Risk-takers Communicators Balanced Principled Reflective • Diploma – Need to take all Pre-AP classes • Certificate – Need to be in Pre-AP in the IB areas • Apply in the Spring of the Sophomore Year • Do not have to have been in IB in middle school to apply

Grade Point Average/Rank • GPA/rank will be determined by the following courses • English – 4 credits • Math – 4 credits • Science – 4 credits • Social Studies – 4 credits • Language other than English – 2 credits • If a student takes more than the required amount in a subject, the highest grades will be taken

End of Course Exams • EOC’s will be required in the following classes: • English I, II, and III • Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II • Biology, Chemistry, and Physics • World Geography, World History, and United States History • EOC grade counts as 15% of the final course grade • A cumulative score will be required in each subject (amount not determined yet) • Can retake; however, only the first administration will count for the GPA

  20. Course Selections Students are encouraged to select the most challenging courses they can handle in order to prepare for continuing their education through high school to college and beyond. Students are also encouraged to choose electives based on their interests.

Thinking about the Future • Keep all report cards, test scores, and letters of recommendations. • Create a resume with all volunteer work, clubs, athletics, awards, etc. and update regularly. • Check to see if any middle school grades were transferable to high school. • Make sure your report card grades are correct. • Find out how to qualify for NHS, Alpha Beta, Language Societies, etc. • Start thinking about college careers NOW. • Get involved in an activity at school . • Stay informed by visiting your counselor.
