  1. History of Facebook Facebook launched on February 4, 2004, by 19-year old Harvard student Mark Zuckerburg. Originally called “thefacebook.com,” Facebook has evolved into one of the largest social sites on the internet. With over 400 million viewers and more signing in everyday, Facebook has become an instant hit and founder Mark Zuckerburg has no intention of slowing down.

Usability and Purpose • Facebook is a social networking website • On Facebook, you can post pictures and can find, speak and message other members of Facebook • Facebook has also turned into a marketing tool. Businesses can form groups or make their own Facebook pages based on their work or business, providing a site where businesses can gain followers and promote their work • Members can use the “like” button to show their interest in a specific picture, idea, or comment. They can also post on the site to say what they dislike or any comment they want to add

All you need is an email account and to create a password • Facebook only comes with a price for advertisers. To place an advertisement on Facebook there is a fee. The price depends on your advertisement, how many you would like to place and where, and the size of your advertisement.
