  3. General Camera Settings • Set Image Quality as HI (Figure 1) • Set Exposure Mode on ‘Aperture Priority’ (Figure 2) • Set Aperture on 22 (for Maximum Depth of Field, Figure 3) • Keep Focus on Manual (to keep Magnification Standardised, Figure 4)

  4. Figure 1: Image Quality 1. Press Quality Set button - red arrow - and keep pressed 2. Rotate Main Dial - green arrow - until ‘HQ’ (high quality) - blue arrow - appears in window

  5. Figure 2: Aperture Priority 1. Press ‘Arrest Button’ in the Middle of the Mode Dial - red arrow - and keep button pressed 2. Rotate Wheel - green arrow - until ‘A’ (Aperture Priority) - blue arrow - appears on the left of the Mode Dial

  6. Figure 3: Aperture Setting 1. Rotate Main Dial - green arrow - until ‘22’ (Maximum Aperture) - blue arrow - appears in window - Keep this setting for intra and extra - oral images for maximum depth of field

  7. Figure 4: Manual Focus Set lever to MF (manual focus) - green arrow - Keep this setting for all intra and extra - oral photographs to keep the magnification standardised

  8. Camera Settings for Intra - Oral Photographs: • Turn Camera / Flash on • Make sure distance is set to approximately one foot (0.30m) - Figure 5 - • Focus on canine by moving forward and backward • Take Exposure

Camera Settings for Extra - Oral Photographs: • Turn Camera / Flash on • Make sure distance is set to approximately three feet (1.0 m) - Figure 6 - • Make sure patient is in focus (by moving forward / backward) • Take Exposure • Do not move too far away from patient; the image may become underexposed as the flash may not be powerful enough

  12. Setting the Flash for the Intra - and Extra - Oral Photographs: • Turn the flash on • No settings need to be adjusted • Please note: turning the camera off before the Flash Unit has been switched off will result in the Flash turning itself on and off whenever the camera is

  13. If in doubt • The camera will also take pictures on auto mode ‘P’ BUT • Standardisation of magnification is more difficult • depth of field is reduced • Please do read the manual, there is more to the camera than this ‘quick start’ manual
