  3. Self Portrait • Shading • Likeness • Rendering • Proportion • Expression Suggested media –pencil, coloured pencil, ink, pastel, conte, or charcoal DO NOT WORK FROM A PHOTOGRAPH

  4. Still Life • Composition • Shading • Proportion • Elements and Principles of Design Suggested media –pencil, coloured pencil, ink, pastel, conte, or charcoal DO NOT WORK FROM A PHOTOGRAPH!

  5. Sculpture • Use of Materials • Expressive Qualities • Elements and Principles of Design Space, texture, unity Suggested media – self hardening clay, plaster, paper mache, wire, assemblage DESIGN MUST BE ORIGINAL!

  6. Sketchbook • Quality of work • Quantity of work • Variety of work (limited cartoon/anima) Sketchbook should show recent work ( within the last year)

  7. Other work • Besides the mandatory pieces discussed, students may submit up to three other works • Choose recent works (within the last year) • Choose a variety of media • Looking for a high skill level and original designs • Emphasis on creative ideas

  8. Written Description • Provide a maximum two page typed description of your work to assist jurors when looking at the pieces • Describe the work, the materials and process used to create it • State if it was done for school, after school program or on your own time • Any other detail to help us when viewing the work ( concept)

  9. Workshop Sessions • You will be invited to attend a three hour workshop from 9am -12pm on a specific date • Drawing tasks will include • Gesture / Contour figure drawing • Figure Proportion Studies • Shading Exercises • Creative Problem Solving Exercises

  10. Other Considerations • Recent Report Cards • Learning skills • Attendance • Extra curricular activities

  11. After the workshop • Students are to pick up all portfolio work immediately after the workshop and are free to leave • Students will be notified as soon as all candidates have been given consideration and the jurors have had time to confer
