ORGANIZATION OF TRAFFIC POLICE • Danish National Police: • National Traffic Center • Heavy Vehicle Section • 12 Police districts • 1 traffic unit • Operative patrol tasks and enforcement • Driving skils (driver licence acquisition) • Automatic Traffic Survailence • Must have motorcycles and VIP drivers for VIP escorte. • (Bornholm is covered by Copenhagen City Police)

  4. TRAFFIC SAFETY • Aproximately 400 killed per year in traffic (increasing) • 10 -12 % caussed by heavy vehicles. (2008: 14 deads in right turns) • National strategy plan: max. 200 killed in 2012. • Priorities: • Speeding • Drunk/drug driving • Seat Belts • Heavy Vehicles

OBJECTIVES IN 2009 • EC directive 2006/22 (EES) ”drivers hours” • 2 % of the total workingdays of the year • 110.000 workingdays by roadside check • 110.000 workingdays by company check • Roadside Check plan 2009: • Aprox 15.000 vehicles (16.768 in 2008) • Priorities: • Animal welfare • Dangerousgoods • Passenger transport

  6. ROADSIDE CHECK • Driver skills • Vehicle / transport documents • Vehicle tecnical conditions / dimensions • Lashing of the cargo • Legislation according to the transport / cargo • Drivers ´hours´: • Check of data for 28 days + current day. • Lack of enforcement tools ”time-consuming”

STRATEGY - DRIVERS ´HOURS´ (temporary) • Check of data of 28 days + current day • Analyse of aprox one week • Daily driving time max.10 hours • Breaks after 4½ hours • Daily rest min. 9 hours • Weekly rest min. 24 hours • Infringements related to ´3821/85´ • In case of infringements the hole regulation will be enforced. • Foreigns: information would be sent to national authorities. • Nationals: Companicheck could be activated.
