  3. Why are we doing this? • Walk on water by faith “ ‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’ ‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”(Mt 14:28,29) • Team building / Unity “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”(Jn 13:34,35) • Experience the Creator God “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…” (Ro 1:20)

Low Impact Camping • Ideal: Leave as little trace of your presence as possible • Preserve the environment for future campers • Leave no garbage behind • There are no garbage cans (can burn paper) • Carry out what you carry in • No cans or glass bottles • Campfires • Small scale, use dead wood from forest

  8. Canoes & Campsites • Canoes • 18 people, 7 canoes • 4 canoes with 3 people; 3 canoes with 2 • Campsites • 2 sites, 9 people

What Each Person Should Bring • Clothing • Key word: Minimalism • We have to carry everything we bring (canoe / portage) • Three days – not including Thurs – 1 pants, 1 shorts, 1 sweater, 2-3 t-shirts, 4 underwear, 4 socks • Bring a raincoat (and pants if you have them) • Bring appropriate footwear (for hiking) • Personal Gear • A sleeping bag & a pad (small pillow if necessary) • 30L Dry bag • A water bottle, a bowl & one set of utensils • A toothbrush • Don’t bring expensive stuff that could be destroyed by water

  10. Food & Cooking • Water • Keeping hydrated is very important • Water from lakes needs to be prepared • Boiled, and added iodine tablets (or pump) • Food • Not going to have gourmet food all the time • Cooking • We will mainly use propane stoves • Some stuff can be cooked in the fire

  11. Potential Wildlife Encounters • There are animals in the park • Racoons, deer, moose, bears, wolves… • If we’re careful, it won’t be a problem • Absolutely no food in the tents • We will hang our food in trees

  12. Nature’s Bathrooms… • Toilets • The forest (this requires a spade) • Thunder boxes • Bring your own toilet paper (rolls in ziplock bags) • Showers • Hop in the lake! • Biodegradable soap, if nec.

Committees • Equipment Committee • Make sure we have enough • Tents, sleeping bags, other personal gear items • Make sure we have • Means to cook food (stove, matches, pots, etc.) • Means to transport equipment (bags, etc.) • Light (flashlights / lanterns) • Responsible for Gear used in common • Ropes, spade, etc.

  14. Committees • Food Committee • Planning the Menu • Buying the food • Planning how to prepare the food • What supplies do we need to cook it? • Packing the food • Make sure it’s packed efficiently & gets there
