Spermatogonia are at base of  Sertolli  cells. They are single and scattered. Oogonia are in groups, surrounded by flat follicular cells. Primary spermatocytes are in the lateral walls of  Sertollicells . Primary oocytes are present in primordial, primary, secondary and tertiary follicles.

  1. Spermatogonia are at base of Sertolli cells. They are single and scattered. • Oogonia are in groups, surrounded by flat follicular cells.

  2. Primary spermatocytes are in the lateral walls of Sertollicells. • Primary oocytes are present in primordial, primary, secondary and tertiary follicles.

  3. Secondary spermatocytes are present in the lateral wall ofSertolli cells. • Secondary oocytes are present in the preovulatory follicle and in the ovulatory mass

  4. Secondary spermatocytes give rise to spermatids. Spermatids migrate to the apical ends of Sertolli cells, transform into spermatozoa. Fully mature spermatozoa swim free in the lumen of seminiferous tubules and now called sperms. • Secondary oocytes forms ootid or ovum only after fertilization.

  5. Mitosis in spermatogonia occurs outside blood testis barrier. • Mitosis in oogonia occurs in cortex of ovary surrounded by follicular cells. • Mitosis in spermatogonia occurs after puberty. • Mitosis in oogonia occurs in intrauterine life.

  6. First meiotic division occurs in the lateral walls of Sertoli cells. • First meiotic division starts in intrauterine life and continues in reproductive life. It is completed at the time of ovulation in Gra’afian follicles.

  7. Second meiotic division occurs in the lateral wall of Sertoli cells. • Second meiotic division occurs after penetration of sperm into the secondary oocyte. It occurs in the ampullary part of uterine tube.

  8. Primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes, spermatids, spermatozoa and sperms are microscopic structures. • Primary oocytes and secondary oocytes are massive cells.

  9. Mature male germ cells are highly motile. • Mature female germ cells are immobile.

  10. There are two kinds of normal sperms with respect to sex chromosomes. Discharged by father in the genital tract of mother. • There is only one kind of ova present in the fallopian tubes of mother.
