  1. MY ROLE MODEL GILL HICKS

  2. The assumed terrorists On the 7th of July 2005 it was a pretty normal morning for Gill Hicks, who was travelling to work in London, England. She always rode the Piccadilly line of the underground train network but this particular morning she was running behind schedule and caught a later train than usual. She was totally unaware that she had just stepped into a carriage that minutes later would be a exploded by a terrorist bomb.

  3. PEOPLE ESCAPING THE TUBE TUNNEL Gill was severally injured in the attack as she was almost standing next to the terrorist when the bomb went off. Both of her legs were destroyed and she only survived this tragedy by using quick thinking to tourniquet her legs to stem the bleeding with a scarf she had been wearing. She nearly died but went on to learn not only to live without her legs but also to work to bring peace to people in tragedies around the world.

  4. 4. What is her job? Gill worked as a publishing director of an architecture, design and contemporary culture magazine called Blueprint and, after the attack, she was also appointed ambassador for Peace Direct. 5. Research her background and comment on the event that has happened and how it has shaped her future. What has happened to Gill has made her strong and more in touch with herself. This has effected her future by making her more peaceful and happy to be alive. 6. Why is she your role model. Why do you admire her? Gill is my Role Model because I believe that she is very strong and also because she was able to forgive the people who did this and move on with her life. It was amazing that she didn’t just give up. 1. Name your Role Model. My role model is Gill Hicks 2. Nationality/ where does she come from. Gill Hicks was born in Adelaide in South Australia but moved to England in 1992, where she now lives. 3. Where does she live? Gill lives with her husband Joe in England (UK ). She is very happy and has a very healthy life.

  5. 9. Do you think this person set goals when they were younger? What might have they been. As a younger person, I imagine that Gill would have set goals for her career to be focused and get a leadership position and maybe even her own page in the magazine or a higher position in a different magazine. Before the attack Gill was extremely focused on her work but after the bombing she was not as into work and put most of her time into peace keeping and helping with tragedies . 10. Can you identify any values this person might have. Gill has many values as she is strong willed, quick thinking and very dedicated. If Gill did not possess these amazing qualities she would not have been able to save her life like she did and would have died. She is a tough and amazing person people should look up to. 7. Is this person a role model for teenagers? Gill Hicks is a great role model for teenagers because her story shows that people can do anything if they believe in themselves and have motivation. She is also a good role model because she is young and teens can relate to her. 8. Would you consider her to be a person with self respect? Gill is definitely a person with self respect. She respects that this attack had made her quite incapable and she would have to use prosected legs to be able to walk again.

  6. Bus that was also bombed. Train wreckage THANKS FOR WATCHING
