  4. Confidentiality and Compliance What you should do: • Ask open-ended questions. • Use the student’s parents as an additional support system. What you should not do: • Do not ask closed questions. • Talk about a student without permission (or without the student present).

Helping If: • Providing DSS approved accommodations. • Holding all students to same academic standards. • Referring student to DSS when a disability has been disclosed.

Tips for Success Strategies for Success • Recommend students use notecards and/or post-it notes for questions. • Outline key points with Markers/Dry-erase board • Drawing charts, diagrams, visual aids • Focus on engagement, self-awareness, present-moment thinking • Develop a visual cue that encourages appropriate behaviors
