  5. Antecedent An antecedent is the word a pronoun stands for. Sarah lost her coat.

  6. Examples • After he hit the homerun, Joe ran to first base. • If you give it a cracker, the parrot might speak to you. • Megan said she liked that kind of candy.

  7. Examples 4. Jenny and Bob planned a surprise party for their friend. 5. Jenny invited her friends, and Bob invited his friends. 6. The friends said they would come. 7. Bob baked a chocolate cake and put icing on it.
