  2. Glossary of Terms FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid Federal loan The federal government funds the loans. Private loan Non-federal, funded by a lender. Entrance counselling An information session every 1st time borrower at Royal Holloway has to complete regarding their rights and responsibilities. MPN Master Promissory Note a borrower has to sign, thereby promising to repay the loan according to the Terms and Conditions of the Note. The MPN has to be signed for every year federal loans are required.  Endorser Addendum A document an endorser has to sign, thereby promising to repay the loan according to the Terms and Conditions of the Direct PLUS Loan Application and MPN signed by the borrower if the borrower does not repay the loan. Loan origination The process of setting up federal loans online.
