Before upgrading to a new version of wInsight, ensure a seamless transition by following these steps: First, save your custom files, such as WSCUSTOM.xml and custom reports, to a secure network drive or external media. Next, install the new version without maintaining dual versions. After installation, restore your custom files by importing them and copying reports back to their respective directories. If you're upgrading a database, back it up first, then follow the appropriate restoration process for automatic conversion. For those already upgraded, utilize the wsqry.exe tool for database updates.

Before You Upgrade to a New Version • Step 1: Save Your Custom Files to a Network Drive or external media • WSCUSTOM.xml • Custom reports • Step 2: Install the New Version of wInsight • Don’t try to maintain two versions • Step 3: Restore Custom Files • File, Import Custom Items… (restores wscustom.xml) • Copy custom reports back to: • C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\winst(for wInsight desktop) • C:\ Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\bin (for Dashboard or Web) Provided courtesy of Earned Value Associates LLC www.earnedvalue.biz

Converting Data Bases • Method 1 (Before You Upgrade wInsight) • Administrator: • Back up data base (Utilities | Backup) • Upgrade to latest version • Create data link to blank data base (new version) • Blank data base can be found in C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\Data\Access • Restore (Utilities | Restore) • Converts data automatically upon restore • Easiest conversion process!

  3. Converting Data Bases • Method 2 (If You Have Already Upgraded wInsight) • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\Util. • Open wsqry.exe. • Click File, Open. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\Data\Access. • Click • UpdateAccess63to631.qry • Click Database | Connect and select the database • Click the green triangle to convert the database • Follow this if you forgot to back up your database on the old version Repeat to upgrade to next version, e.g., 6.4, 6.5, 6.5.1
