The Long and Short of Eris… • Discovered on January 5, 2005 • Eris is 97 AU from the Sun when it is furthest away from the Sun and 37AU from the Sun when it is closest to the Sun. • Eris is a dwarf planet • The half a millennia orbit period • A rocky planet after gas giants • Was named Xena, Planet X, and eventually named Eris: the Greek Goddess Earth Eris Ceres Pluto

  3. The Long and Short of Eris (cont’d)… Earth • Eris has a Methane ice disposition, with a bronze colour • Eris possesses no real atmosphere • The Sun heats this planet to a real atmosphere Eris Ceres Pluto

The Vacation of a Lifetime… • Take a break from the sun intense area of the Earth • Eris is very cool with a temperature of about -232 degrees • Recently, there has been a discovery of water ice on Eris • In addition to this, Eris features an alternative from the regular rocks of our planet Earth • Eris is a planet for the late sleeper

How Far and Long to Eris? • Eris is currently 97 AU away from the Sun. • The trip to Eris requires a fastest spacecraft which can travel at Warp 2 • This spacecraft will take 1 hour and 41 minutes to reach Eris by traveling at 8 light speed • This is quicker than going to Hawaii to get a sunburn!
