  1. Login Instructions • Windows Login • User name=Student ID • Password (case sensitive) = • Upper case letter • Lower case letter • Five numerals • One symbol (use the shift key) • ZenWorks Login • CANCEL

  2. GOALS • Print out list of citations to criticism from the Gale Literary Index • Print a resource list from the online catalog • Record number of sources from online databases • PVHS databases • POWER Library databases

Directions • Locate criticism on your work using the Pathfinder • Open tutorials and databases in New Tabs • Library Online Catalog • Gale Literary Index • PVHS Databases • POWER Library Databases • Work through each tutorial and database at your own pace • Complete Search History on pages 2 & 3 • Email articles to yourself if time allows • Cite your sources in NoodleTools using the Tutorials as a guide

  5. Scroll down to the Pathfinders section

  6. Open Literature Criticism Research for Poetry in a New Tab

  13. Click through the screens at your own pace

  14. Keep the tutorial open for easy reference and go to the Gale Literary Index and perform your search

  15. You can always click on the tab to go back to the tutorial

  19. Close the Gale Literary Index and tutorial tabs

  20. Scroll down to #3 Online Catalog

  21. Open the Online Catalog Tutorial in a new tab

  22. Click the docushare tab to View the Tutorial

  23. Printing a Resource List from the Online Catalog

  24. Click the PVHS Library tab for the online catalog

  25. Log in

  26. Use your student ID # and password

  27. Click on the Info tab to check your account

  28. Click on Resource Lists

  29. Click Add List

  30. Name your list with your First Name Last Name Poetry Crit

  31. Add the title of your poem and poet’s name

  32. Click Save

  33. Click Library Search to begin adding resources to your list.

  34. Make sure you are in Power Search

  35. Short Demo

  36. Construct a keyword search combining your poet’s name and title

  37. Click Add Page to Selected List

  38. Clip board icon indicates that the title is in your list

  39. Not enough results for your title? • Try searching for criticism on your poet in general • Once you find a book on the shelf, you will then need to use the index of the book to locate specific information on your poem.

  40. Refine your search

  41. Remove title and truncate criticism

  42. Truncation Truncation found the root word with all possible endings. • Identify root or base spelling of a word • Place an asterisk * at the end of the root • Searches for all forms of the word • e.g. crit* Critical Critically Criticism Criticisms Critique Critic Broadens the Search

  45. This book does not discuss my poem. Click the green arrow for the next resource.

  46. This book contains 15 critical essays, so I’ll add it to my list

  47. When you are finished, Click In This List to see your list

  48. You may click on the In This List link from the results list or detailed record screen
