  1. The Gingerbread Cottage A story- telling in 5.B Základní škola, Klášterec nad Ohří, Krátká 676, The Czech Republic

  2. Once upon a time there was a daddy and he had two children. Children´s mum died and their daddy married a new wife but she didn´t love Jeníček and Mařenka.

  3. One day she told her husband to take his kids to the forest. Jeníček and Mařenka had to pick up strawberries while their daddy was cutting trees.

  4. As they could see lots of sweet strawberries they went further and further and they lost their way in the deep forest.

  5. What to do? Jeníček climbed up a tall tree and he looked around. “I can see some light“, he said and they went in that direction. Suddenly it was dark and they couldn´t find their way home and they were very scared.

  6. They looked inside. There were an old codger and his old bad woman sitting round the table. After a while they found a beautiful little cottage. It was all made of sweet gingerbread.

  7. As Jeníček and Mařenka were very hungry they broke a piece of gingerbread …but the old codger and his old bad woman heard them.The old codger went out and asked: Who is stealing our gingerbread ?“ “Nobody, just a little breeze“,answered Mařenka. Jeníček and Mařenka ate some more gingerbread and then they fell asleep in the grass.

  8. In the morning,when Mařenka and Jeníček broke another piece of gingerbread,the old codger opened the door, hesaw the kids and hestarted to chase them. Mařenka and Jeníček had to run fast from the forest.

  9. Fortunately one lovely woman working in the field saved the kids. When the oldcodger came and asked her about the kids she showed him opposite direction. Mařenka and Jeníček went back home and they were happy.
