  2. Election of Honorary Fellow It is proposed to elect Sir Tim Berners Lee OM KBE FREng as an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences,to be admitted at the AGM in November 2013

  3. Proposal to establish a new category of Royal Fellowship • To allow Council to recommend any member of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom for election as a Fellow. • Nominations would be included as motions at an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting of the Academy, to be approved by the Fellowship. • If the Fellowship is agreeable, Council recommends that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is elected as the Academy’s first Royal Fellow.

  4. Vice President (non-clinical) Professor Ron Laskey FRS FMedSci steps down as Vice President (non-clinical) after this AGM. He will be succeeded by Professor Martin Humphries FMedSci, Vice-President & Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Manchester

  6. Council election 2013 • 8 candidates nominated by the Fellowship, competing for 6 places. • Voting was conducted by the single transferable voting system and the procedure overseen by Professor Roger Jones FMedSci. • 358 votes were cast. There were no spoilt papers.

Election of Fellows 2013: Candidates • 58 Candidates ‘lapsed’ after the 2012 election. • 245 existing eligible candidates are entering the 2013 election. • 105 new nominations were received by September 2012. • A total of 350 candidates are being reviewed for the 2013 election. 44 new Fellows will be elected in April 2013.
