Number and Operation Sense • use models to express repeated multiplication using exponents • express numbers in expanded form so the place value of each digit is shown • write large numbers in scientific notation • develop and apply divisibility rules for 3, 4, 6, and 9 • solve and create problems that require finding common factors and the greatest common factor • solve and create problems that require finding common multiples and the least common multiple • estimate the sums and differences of fractions when appropriate • use mental mathematics to multiply whole numbers and fractions • use mental mathematics when working with decimals • change fractions to decimals and vice versa • compare and order fractions and decimals • use estimation to check reasonableness of answers • apply the order of operations for problems involving whole numbers and decimals • demonstrate number sense for percent • estimate and calculate solutions to percent problems • compare and order integers • use manipulatives and diagrams to develop the understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers • add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers symbolically and be able to apply in problem solving
