7. Our Challenges We observed in 2003 to 2004, i.e. Initial stage of the booming market • Very large scale projects being planned • Increased workload for EPC’s • Existing workflow a constraint Concerns to ; • Maintain engineering quality & schedule • Enhance engineering capacity • Control costs Engineering innovation was essential

8. Our Challenges Actions for “Engineering of the future” • 5 years (2005 to 2009) plan • Headed by a dedicated team • Participation of all EPC disciplines • Verify results through pilot projects Vision • Simple - Highly standardized and easy to learn, even fit for new comers • Smart – Sophisticated & integrated, reuse of information • Proactive - Strategic and early completion of basic design to ease schedule constraint • Investing in the future of our business

9. Our Challenges • In applying SPE ; • Integration, especially data correlation among SPPID, SP3D and SPI • Inject human intelligence • Leverage of “Automation” in 3D • Include value added inhouse software • Global operation • Numerous End-User standards • Multi offices • Virtual single office • Manuals and procedures • Education & training

10. JGC Extensions “Automation” in 3D • Equipment parameters to shape modelling • Piping shape check • Pipe support selection • Pre-engineered platforms

11. JGC SPE 3D Utility Program & Custom Shape Program 11

12. SP3D Evaluation SPE Integration (SPPID, SPI, SP3D w/SPF) Automation for SP3D Pilot Project (SPPID, SPI, SP3D Integration) SM3D Trial Use SPRD-SP3D Spec/Catalog Integration Final SPE Integration Test Evaluation & Development Test Project 1st Production Project Production Project 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 Activities to establish a new engineering platform

13. Efforts by JGC • New workflow under development • Smart interface between disciplines • Manhour reduction • Designer friendly Contributed to ; • Maintain engineering quality & schedule • Reduction of manual work & minimize re-work • More work with the same people • Ready for the future

14. Our Way Forward Transparency & accountability of engineering Data integration & management Incorporate JGC intellectual property Life cycle management of information Technology transfer to the next generation

15. Collaboration with Intergraph Requests to Intergraph • Coordination among SP suite • Improved software performance in use of Mega projects • New version to enable updating existing data • Announce new release with accurate delivery dates and functional contents

16. Collaboration with Intergraph Long term win-winrelationship • Discussions for SPE roadmap • Face-to-face communication • Direct contact with focal point and/or right persons • Feed back by contractor for phenomena & response time of software under large data volume

17. Questions Grateful for views by attendees on ; • Legacy vs defacto standards • Cross compatibility of SP suite and others • Usage of API

18. Thank youfor your attention Engineering of the Future
