  1. Pr 2:1 ¶ My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, 2So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; 8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. 10 ¶When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, 11Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,

  2. 12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, 14 Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; 15 Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths; 16 To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words, 17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God. 18 For her house leads down to death, And her paths to the dead; 19 None who go to her return, Nor do they regain the paths of life- 20 So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness. 21 For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless will remain in it; 22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

  3. 1Th 3:12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, Jn 13:35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

  4. The Agony, The Arrest, and The Denial Lu 22: Lu 22:31 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 "But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” 33 But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.” 34 Then He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.“… 39 ¶ Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 When He came to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And He was withdrawn from them

  5. about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” 47 ¶ And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him,

  6. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 "When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” 54 ¶ Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed at a distance. 55 Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, "This man was also with Him.“57 But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him.“58 And after a little while another saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!”

  7. "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear(wrong spirit & wrong weapon). 51 But Jesus answered and said, "Permit even this." And He touched his ear and healed him.59 Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.

  8. The Savior’s Warning • Lu 22: 40 "Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” • Mt 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. • The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” • Application- This inner struggle is what we need to watch and pray about. • Ga 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh Ac 20:28 "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

  9. The Disciples’ Neglect 45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping… 46 Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Application- God’s warnings need to be taken seriously. Mr 14:50 And they all forsook him, and fled. Jn 20:19 ¶ the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews 1Pe 5:8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks…

  10. The Son’s Agony 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Gethsemane Olive Press Mt 26:38 Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." Application- we all at one time or another will have to wrestle in an “olive press” with God. Pr 24:10 ¶ If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small. Heb 12:3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

  11. The Father’s Provision 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Application- Take heart, though God may allow many painful trials, He does not leave us alone. Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? 1Pe 1:6 ¶ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise...

  12. The Enemy’s Hour 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 "When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Application-God allows the enemy to have his hour and power in our lives, but victory is ours. Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

  13. A Friend’s Denial But Peter followed at a distance. 55 Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, "This man was also with Him.“57 But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him.“ 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. Application- When we follow at a distance we can get lost.

  14. The Savior’s Look 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly Application-God does not mistake the moment for the man and neither should we. Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; Jn 21:17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep

  15. Conclusion Ro 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and the comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
