  3. TEAM • Definition • A group of people working together is not necessarily a team. • TEAM is a group of people who are committed to the achievement of a common objective, who work well together and enjoy doing so, producing high quality results. Together Each Achieve More!

Process ROLES Needed To have a well rounded team, various ROLES are needed. “from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Eph 4:16)

Forming Storming Norming Performing STAGES of Team Development • Unclear about what we are supposed to do • Team members don’t know each other • Feelings are not dealt with • Members are testing the situation and each other • Having trouble getting along • Members competing for power • Disagreeing about how to proceed • Personal feelings raised • Trying to spot problem, work out a solution that meets everyone’s goals. • Seeing work progress • Team open in asking questions & giving feedback • Know each other better = working more smoothly • Clear Work process & method • Ground rules established • Differences resolved • Harmony, respect, trust and support • Feel pride in accomplishments • Max. use of energy and ability to get work done • High flexibility • Members’ needs are met • Working both together & interdependently • Members feel a close connection to the team.

Dynamic Team Member Strength • I maintain confidentiality • I view feedback as an opportunity to learn • I state problems along with alternative solutions • I accept ownership for team decisions • I understand personal and team roles • I trust other team members • I work for consensus in team decisions

Team Work with a Servant’s Heart • Above all, theories alone will not produce the most effective service team, without the “LOVE” through which we are known as God’s disciples. “A new commandment I give to you, that you LOVE one another; as I have loved you, that you also LOVEone another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have LOVE for one another“. (John 13: 34-35)

Team Work with a Servant’s Heart • This love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit • Holy Spirit – responsible for our unity • VISION “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1Cor 1:10)

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Phil 2: 2-4)
