Transportation Plan • Amtrak has provided the Sixth District Convention Fare Rates (10% discount off best available rail fare – cannot be used in conjunction with other discount fares) for routes from South Carolina and North Carolina to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (only). • The Convention Fare is available for you and your family for travel between July 4 - July 23rd for travel to the Conclave. It does not apply to any other routes or dates. • Sixth District focus travel dates July 10th – July 17th • Importance of the dates: If we get 56 Brothers on a train, we can seek assistance from Amtrak to create an Omega Car to the Conclave – Need you to book by July 1 to achieve this. • Sixth District will utilize this as the primary transportation option for Brothers/individuals it is sponsoring to the 79th Grand Conclave.

Train Benefits • 6thDistrict Benefits • Economical means of providing dependable transportation for our Undergraduates • Economical means of providing dependable transportation for our Talent Hunt Winner • No requirement to coordinate varying individual or group schedule arrival or departure times • Brotherhood Benefits: • 10% discount off the best available pricing at the time of booking • Business or Coach - Wi-Fi accessible on most trains, 120v ac power on all trains, either lounge, dining or snack cars on all trains, bathroom facilities, and sleepers if you choose on selected trains. • You can remain productive on your trip up/back • Flexibility of travel days with travel being made up to 3 days prior to date of departure (pending space) • The train arrives at the 30th street station; 10 minutes by car (cab approx. $10) or Septa Regional Rail (Free with your Amtrak ticket to board a train every few minutes from the Gallery East Station connecting to the Convention Center) • Approx. 30 stations in NC, 11 Stations in SC and 23 in VA (for the most Northern NC Brothers) • Costs to Consider Driving or Flying • Driving - Marriott Parking $48 per night - $336 for 7 nights parking (Fri to Fri) • Center City Parking near Marriott -$35 per night for 7 nights $245.  Goes up ~ $10 at conference time. • Train compared to air travel - savings will vary depending on departure city/airline. The costs for cancellation/rescheduling are much greater on airlines ($200 change fee on average) compared to train. Train fare is fully refundable if you cancel 24 hours in advance and in an emergency that will cause you to miss your train – call in advance to ensure you get your refund or reschedule. • Transportation from Airport via Taxi ($28.50) and on Septa ($6.50 – approx.). Transportation to the Convention center is – FREE with your train ticket.

  8. Booking Travel • Brothers are responsible for making their own reservations. Fare code and phone number have been tested. • To Plan your Travel using the Convention Fare Rates • Call 1-800 – 872 – 7245 • You will get “Julie” the automated reservation agent. To reach a live agent, do the following: • At the end of the first automated question say, “reservations” • She will begin providing “reservation” information, just say “Agent”. Julie will restate the request and ask if you want to be transferred to an agent, say “yes” and you will be transferred. • The Agent will assist you now, start by providing your “from location” and “to location (Philadelphia Only)”. They will also assist in finding the nearest train station to your town/city. • You must tell them about Convention Fare Code – X64S-904 prior to ticket pricing. They will not ask for the code. • The Convention Fare Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts.
