  1. Cholinergic Receptors: The receptors on which Ach acts Nicotinic NM NN Muscarinic M1 – 15 Adrenergic Receptors: The receptors on which NEP and EP act α α1 α2 ß ß1 ß2 D D1 D2 Receptors of the ANSNamed after nerve types that innervates them Isfahan Medical Faculty, Anatomy and Biomedical Sciences Department

  2. Cholinergic receptors • Nicotinic : • The toxin obtained from tobacco leaves which activates these receptors and always has a stimulatory action • Muscarinic : • The poison from a mushroom which activates these receptors at the effector site Isfahan Medical Faculty, Anatomy and Biomedical Sciences Department

  3. Cholinergic receptors • Kinds of nicotinic cholinoreceptors : • ACh receptors on the adrenal medulla • ACh receptors on the postganglionic neuron at the synapse between pre- and postganglionic neurons • ACh receptors on skeletal muscle • Muscarinic cholinoreceptor • Stimulatory • Inhibitory Isfahan Medical Faculty, Anatomy and Biomedical Sciences Department

  4. Adrenergic receptors • alpha-1: excitation (most common alpha) • alpha-2 : inhibition • beta-1 : excitation • beta-2 : inhibition (most common beta) Isfahan Medical Faculty, Anatomy and Biomedical Sciences Department
