2013 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Security Measures and Guidelines
In 2013, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program emphasized data security during regional meetings. Notably, two laptops were reported stolen, but no data was stored on them. The program mandates the use of approved anti-virus and firewall software on all computers. It requires that all Tax-Aide computers be upgraded to Windows 7 before the end of the tax year, as support for Windows XP will be discontinued. Proper handling and storage of backup files are crucial for maintaining taxpayer data confidentiality and security.
