  2. What is AIDS Action Europe? AIDS Action Europe is a pan-European partnership of NGOs that aims to create an effective response to the HIV and AIDS epidemics in Europe and its neighbours.

  3. EU policy • contribution to global fight against HIV/AIDS • European fight • EU and its neighbouring countries • measurable outcomes • evidence based approach: harm reduction and prevention • treatment and prevention • research • involvement of people living with HIV as well as NGOs

  4. Pan European approach Through: • European leadership • NGOs workning together • resource mobilisation • facilitating for NGOs in linking and learning • involvement of neighbouring countries

Aids Action Europe is a Pan European partnership A European partner of ICASO* • linking & learning • mobilise communities • priorities: • ongoing and upcoming EU enlargement with specific focus on Central & Eastern Europe and Central Asia • the rise of HIV within the EU with focus on • Western Europe • resource mobilisation to starve the global epidemic *International Council of Aids Service Organisations

Do we really need another AIDS network? • to change the face of the epidemic i.e. change work in practice • to involve of NGOs in word and practice • to make policy and practice go hand in hand • EU can invest and facilitate exchange of information and experience • AIDS Action Europe can facilitate contact with NGOs
