Unit 4 Project Part 1 You have been hired as the Marketing Coordinator for one of the following NC Venues: Greensboro Coliseum (Greensboro NC) TWC Arena (Charlotte NC) Bojangle’s Coliseum (Charlotte NC) LJVM Coliseum (Winston-Salem NC) You are to plan for an upcoming event at your chosen venue. Once you select a venue from above, choose an event occurring this summer at that venue. As the Marketing Coordinator you are to find the following: Slide 1: Introduction & Event Details Tell me who you are, job title and what venue you represent Tell me the who, what, when, where, how details of the event. Define your TARGET MARKET Using three of the Market Segmentations descriptors (Demographic, Geographic, Psychographic or Behavioral) Example: “Males, 18-45 living in the Triad area who like football.” Slide 2: Celebrity Appearance Organize and Plan a CELEBRITY APPEARANCE for your event Identify the Celebrity Research and identify the RIDERS for the Celebrity and how you will accommodate them Explain WHY you thought this celebrity would be beneficial to your marketing efforts for this event How will this celebrity bring more people to your event? Do they relate to your target market? Complete in PowerPoint and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

  3. Unit 4 Project Part 2 As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to inform local media of the upcoming event. You are to create a Press/News Release to be sent to a local newspaper to advertise for the event. In Microsoft Word type a Press Release using the “4.03 Press Release Guide” located in Unit 4. On the day of presentations you are to have your Press Release printed out. Also create a link to your document on Slide 3. Slide 3: Press/News Release Identify if it is Hard Copy or Soft Copy and explain why. Identify which Media in the local Triad area will be running your Press Release Example: Winston-Salem Journal, News Channel 14 “Local Events”, etc Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 1. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

  4. Unit 4 Project Part 3 As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to educate potential costumers about past and upcoming events. You are to create a Newsletter to be sent to potential customers to advertise for your venue and its events. Using either Microsoft Word or Scribus create a Newsletter. On the day of presentations you are to have your Newsletter printed out. Also create a link to your document on Slide 4. Your Newsletter is to include pictures or graphics and describe a recent event at your venue and describe your upcoming event. Remember you are to highlight the most interesting aspects of both to create interest amongst potential customers. Slide 4: Newsletter Describe the recent event at your venue and preview the upcoming event. Create a link to your Newsletter file. Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 2. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

  5. Unit 4 Project Part 4 As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to create interest amongst the media for your upcoming event. You are to create a Media Guide to be sent to local Media. Using Scribus create a Media Guide. On the day of presentations you are to have your Media Guide printed out. Also create a link to your document on Slide 5. Your Media Guide is to include the following pages: Page 1: Front Cover – Event logo, colorful, attractive, exciting Page 2: Event participates (Ex: Jason Aldean, Flo Rida, Teams, Coaches/Players) – include pictures and titles Page 3: Venue information – stadium name, size, parking, amenities Page 4: Ticket Prices, Ticket Packages, Seating Chart/Venue floor layout Page 5: Local media coverage – newspaper, tv stations, etc. Page 6: Back Cover – Full page of different advertisements by sponsors of the event Slide 5: Media Guide Briefly describe your Media Guide. Create a link to your Media Guide file. Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 3. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

Unit 4 Project Part 5 • As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to create an Event Program to help educate and entertain for your upcoming event. • You are to create a Event Program to be distributed during the event. • Using Scribus create a Event Program. On the day of presentations you are to have your Event Program printed out. Also create a link to your document on Slide 6. • Your Event Program is to include the following pages: • Page 1: Front Cover – Event Name, Logos, Main Sponsors, Other Relevant info (date, opponent, venue, etc) • Page 2: Table of Contents – shows consumer what page certain information is on. • Middle Pages (Content): • Event participates (Ex: Jason Aldean, Flo Rida, Teams, Coaches/Players) – include pictures and titles • Statistics on players and teams • Articles and Fun facts about performers • History of the venue/team/event • Photos and info of previous events • Event Schedule (at what times will the parts of the event take place) • Last Page: Back Cover – Include advertisements of upcoming events (i.e. schedule) as well as advertisements by sponsors of the event. • Remember to include advertisements throughout the Program. Match relevant advertisements with content on that page. • Slide 6: Event Program • Briefly describe your Event Program. • Create a link to your Event Program file. • Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 4. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

  7. Unit 4 Project Part 6 • As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to establish ticket pricing strategies for your upcoming event. • You are to set ticket prices and create a ticket pricing strategy: • Slide 7: Ticket Pricing Strategy • Pricing Objective – Is it Company Focused, Competitor Focused, or Consumer Focused? • Are you using Penetration, Skimming, Bundling, or a combination as a strategy? Why? • Ticket Pricing Strategy: • Is it based on location of the seat? • Is it based on how early it was purchased? • Is it based on limited seats available? • Is it a combination of the above three? • Discuss why you chose that strategy. • State the price of your ticket/tickets and explain why you chose the price you did for the ticket/tickets. • Create a VISUAL of a sample TICKET • Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 5. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

  8. Unit 4 Project Part 7 • As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to create an “Out-of-the-Box” sales promotion for your upcoming event. • To compete with other local events you are to create a unique, unconventional sales idea: • Slide 8: Out-of-the-Box Promotion • PREPARE FOR INSPIRATION • How will you inspire your target market? • What is your competition doing to promote their event? • Possibly take their ideas and improving on them • (OR) Put a new twist on an old idea • Be creative and brainstorm • DETERMINE INCENTIVE • "What does this sales promotion offer to customers?" • A chance to save money? A free sample or gift? • DETERMINING DELIVERY • Deciding how to "package" the incentive • A coupon? A contest? • DETERMINING HOW TO GET THE NEWS OUT • deciding how you will let your customers know it • Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 6. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.

Unit 4 Project Part 8 • As the Marketing Coordinator of a NC Venue, it is your responsibility to establish a method for personal selling and creating long-term customer satisfaction for your upcoming event. • Slide 9: Personal Selling Method • How are you going to establish personal contact? (In person or over the phone?) • Write a script of what you would typically say to customers during your sales pitch • Slide 10: Customer Relationships • How will you develop long-term loyalty even through controversy or sub par performance? • How will your event/s help create an emotional connection with customers? • How will you provide customers with what they expect? • How will you make customers feel as though they are treated fairly? • Continue along with Unit 4 Project Part 7. Complete and submit to Edmodo by the end of class.
