  1. Function Project. Taylor Knighton Date: 9/20/2010

  2. My real world problem Lizzy and her friends went to Best Buy, to buy some CD’s it was 3 for 24.00 How much would it be if she bought 5.

  3. My Equation Y = 8x ( 1, 8 ) ( 2, 16 ) ( 3, 24 ) ( 4, 32 ) ( 5, 40 )

  4. Variables • Independent variables- The independent variable is X which is the number of CD’s • Dependent variables- The dependent variable is Y which is the amount it cost • Y depends on X • Yes, it is a function

  5. Domain & Range Domain- all the X values (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) Range- all the Y values (8, 16, 24, 32, 40)

  6. Is it continuous or discrete? Discrete, because that’s as far as you need to go to answer the question.

  7. The stated equation& function notation Equation; X 8 = Y Notation; F(x)=40(x)

  8. Table. . . . . .

  9. Graph. . 40 36 32 . 28 . 24 20 16 . 12 . 8 4

  10. Explanation Every CD cost 8 dollars a piece, & since I want 5 CD’s it will cost 40 dollars total. & that is my real world problem :) . ----- . 24.00$ 3 = 8.00$ 8.00$ 5 = 40.00$ X
