  2. As the current situation develops, the PureFilters team has been busy working on helping our fellow Canadians keep their air fresh. However, each day we kept hearing about personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages and people not having the right equipment to safeguard against airborne contaminants. Our passion for air quality had us determined to come up with a solution. After discussing a few different ideas, we thought to ourselves:

  3. COULD WE REPURPOSE OUR AIR FILTERS INTO MASKS? MERV 13 air filters are capable of capturing particles between 0.3 to 3.0 microns, such as virus carriers, with up to 90% efficiency. Viruses often travel in biological aerosols in coughing and sneezing and range in size from 0.5-3 Micron.If we could insert MERV 13 filter material inside of a mask, it could offer the right protection to non-healthcare workers.

This could alleviate the pressure off of medical-grade masks so that the frontline healthcare workers would have access to more supply.We pitched our idea to a number of local clothing manufacturers here in Toronto.   6. SO COMFORT AND STYLE ARE GREAT, BUT WHAT ABOUT PROTECTION? This is where the MERV 13 filter insert comes into play... Each Maskwell mask has an opening in the interior for a MERV 13 filter insert. This will provide you with a very high level of protection against airborne contaminants.All you need to do is simply replace the filter insert with a new one once a week.

  7. You can order more replacement inserts anytime or if you are a PureFilters customer, chances are, you may have an extra MERV 13 filter at home you can sacrifice. The Maskwell mask will provide you with the protection you need as a non-healthcare worker, at an affordable cost.

  8. We have started production for 1000 Maskwell masks and are now accepting pre-orders. We are offering PureFilters customers a chance to order before we make an announcement to the general public. As we continue to work with our local manufacturer to ramp up production, we will be offering these masks in batches as soon as they are ready.
