Successful Presentations By Your Name
Plan your presentation • Slide 1 : Title page. • Slides 2-11: Key points – bulleted. • Final Slide: Conclusion Use: • A plain background. • Minimal text • Appropriate graphics. • A consistent slide transition • Animations that assist viewing.
Plain backgrounds and fonts • Make the text easier to read. • Ensure that the background remains “Background” to the information you are seeking to provide. • Are best when room lighting is not ideal when you present your slide shown. • Provide handout sheets and Notes pages that are clear when printed.
Appropriate flow Transitions and animations: • Should be consistent from slide to slide. • Should not be too fast. • Should not be too elaborate. • Should use minimal sound (if any). • Should allow sufficient time for your audience to view the graphics and read the text.
Graphics • Should enhance meaning. • Should be smaller than the text they explain. • Should look at the text (to draw attention to the text). • Should be sitting on the slide when it is first displayed rather than animated to enter after the heading and text – let the viewers look at the graphic and then turns their attention to your information.
Presenting • Key your introduction and other additional information you will give into the relevant notes pages and print them. • Practice your presentation with the computer and data projector that you will use for the ‘real thing’. • Stand tall and speak clearly.
