Student Agenda • the student agenda is a fast and easy way to check your child’s homework • it is also an effective way to communicate with your child’s teachers • tell your child you would like to see their agenda every day to track daily homework and projects • if this doesn’t work, visit SAM’s website The SAM Student Agenda belongs to you too!

  19. Drop-off and Pick-up • our staff parking lot should not be used as a turnaround • observe traffic laws and signs posted on Heather Road; the school is not responsible for your parking ticket • walking solves all traffic congestion, encourages daily exercise, and is environmentally friendly

Visiting SAM Safe and Caring Schools • always check in at the office first before proceeding to any other part of the building • your child’s teacher is not available to speak with you during instructional time • call the office and leave a message for your child’s teacher to arrange an appointment

Student Sign-Out Procedures If you indicated on the lunch form that your child is staying for lunch every day, he/she does not have permission to leave school property at lunch without your consent. Last minute plans with your child for lunch? STUDENTS MUST HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM A LEGAL GUARDIAN TO LEAVE SCHOOL PROPERTY!

  22. SAM’s Dress Policy SAM’s Dress Policy can be found on page 9 of the SAM student agenda. • low riding pants • skirts and shorts need to be an appropriate length • low cut or revealing attire is prohibited

  23. HELPFULTIPS… your child must be on school property at 8:45 a.m. schedule appointments outside the school day work with your child to be on time PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE

Supervision • Parents are reminded that staff supervision does not start until 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:23 p.m. • Students can be detained until 3:38 p.m. without parent permission • Students arriving before 8:45 a.m. and staying after 3:23 p.m. must be involved in an extra-curricular or co-curricular activity that is supervised by a SAM staff member

  25. TDSB Homework Policy Homework fosters self-discipline, independent thinking, and positive family interactions. Homework Completion, Homework Practice, Homework Preparation, Homework Extension Homework should be balanced with the importance of personal and family wellness. Estimated completion time should be one hour or less.

  26. Personal Electronic Devices Personal Electronic Devices (PED) like cell phones, BlackBerrys and pagers are great for staying in touch with friends and family. TDSB policy does permit students to possess PED’s while on school property; however, such devices must be powered off and stored out of view during instructional classes.
