  1. Pastor Craig B. Key, Sr. Living Word Bible Fellowship Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf??? May 26, 2013

  2. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Text: Gen: 12:10-20 • Opening: There was a nursery rhyme called “The 3 little pigs” • The 2 pigs said:He don't take no time to playAll he does is work all day; • The 1 pig said:You can laugh and play and fiddleDon't think you can make me soreI'll be safe and you'll be sorryWhen the wolf comes through your door

  3. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • See I told you what would happenWhen that Big Wolf came aroundOnly Bricks and stone are wolf proofNow at last your safe and sound • As we hear this nursery rhyme (3 little pigs) and consider the story of Abram I am reminded of a scripture in 1 Pet. 5:8, that says “Be sober, be vigilant; becauseyour adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” • What we must come to terms with is that it is the job of Satan (the big bad wolf) to place something before us in an attempt to get us to operate in our senses (fear)

  4. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • He utilizes the motto “By any means necessary...” • Definition: fear - a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc.; whether the threat is real or imagined; a feeling or condition of being afraid. • Now as we key in on this passage of Abram's failure and salvation we are going to see four principles.

  5. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Fear starts as a seed (verse 10) • When we see Abram this was a man who just followed the voice of The Lord, who just worshiped God, and sacrificed unto Him • But even the best of us can miss it • Understand that even in this seed process we are in control over the seed process • Most times we look at things that induce fear (and we have the nerve to call it entertainment and get our children to watch it)

  6. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • We have just planted seed and then as time goes on we water it • It's only a matter of time, it's got to come up • You didn't just start doing what you've been doing it started with one act (idea-pondering-yielding-action-habit)

  7. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Fear has its origin in the kingdom of darkness (2 Tim. 1:7 "God has not given us...") • We need to understand that fear, doubt, and unbelief shouldn't be apart of the makeup of the child of God • The evil one tries to plant fear as a mine in your mind to keep you in bondage • In the times of war the enemy would plant mines in field in which he thought that he could keep his enemy at bay

  8. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Satan is using this sort of warfare against us to keep us at a certain point in our spiritual walk • But I hear the Word of God screaming out “Greater is He that'swithin me then he that’s in the world” • Look at your neighbor and say I see greater in you!!!

  9. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • At the presence of fear is the dawning of doubt • Fear fuels doubt and starves your faith • When we operate in fear what we are actually telling God is "God you are not powerful enough or you don't have what it takes to handle what's going on in my life" • Is there anybody in here who is tired of walking in fear instead of walking in faith??? • I don't know about you but I can't afford to walk around in fear anymore...I need too much from God, I got too much to do, got too many lives to touch, got too many people to bless

  10. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Understand that fear is the direct enemy of faith; fear and faith are like oil and water, then can't live in the same house and someone has trying to make them live in the same house and have been unsuccessful • Fear is flesh and faith is spirit • The bible declares "the just shall live by faith..." • If your faith in God is not rooted and built on Christ then when trouble comes you won't be able to stand.

  11. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • There was an old hymn we use to sing growing up: • My hope is built on nothing lessThan Jesus’ blood and righteousness.I dare not trust the sweetest frame,But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.On Christ the solid Rock I stand,All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand. • You haven't stepped out there yet, when you heard the voice of God all because of fear (and you keep saying "I just want to make sure")

  12. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Fear desires to deny who You are in God (verse 12-13) • Saraiwas supposed to look up to Abram as her:-Example-Guide-Protector-Provider • Abram was given a covenant by God himself • God declared him to be the father of many nations • He was blessed, a conduit of blessing, a new land owner

  13. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • But this fear desired to rob him of his inheritance, his blessing, and his wife (his good thing) his partner in the blessing. • Understand that the evil one cannot bring anything else new to you, he is not creative • He gets all of his information from you of what he is going to bring to you • So therefore your are in control of what he can try you with • 1 Cor. 10:13

  14. WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF??? • Conclusion/Takeaway: • You can't claim "No Fear" if your not walking (living) in full faith • The evil one is not impressed with your church attendance as he is with your spiritual allegiance • God is home base (Ps.3) • Additional Scriptures:-Ps. 23-Ps. 27-Deut. 31:8
