  1. Design Constraint Analysis Team KANG Group 1

  2. Sentry Gun Design and build a turret and armature structure with the ability to detect, track and fire upon targets using a camera, motion sensors and a mounted weapon.

  3. Constraints Overview • Camera Requirements • DSP Requirements • Microcontroller Requirements

  4. Camera Requirements • Digital Output Video Camera • QVGA (320 X 240 Resolution) • Frame Rate: ~15 frames/second

  5. Part Choices • Camera: • C3088 camera module with OV6620 sensor chip • 356x292 at 50Hz frame rate • Analog and digital parallel output (YCrCb 4:2:2) • I2C interface for settings • Well-documented

  6. DSP Requirements • External memory expansion capabilities (for image storage) • Processing speed min. at 15MHz to run video algorithm • SPI channel (microcontroller communication) • GPIO pins to interface with camera (12-15)

  7. Part Choices • DSP: • Freescale DSPB56374AE • 150 MIPS • 80-pin TQFP • I2C, SPI • “Up to 47” GPIO pins (from data sheet)

  8. μC Requirements • SCI ports for user interface and IR sensors (min. 2) • SPI port to interface with DSP • GPIO pins to interface with motion sensors, motors and fire control • PWM capable of 16-bit output on at least two ports

  9. Part Choices • μC: • Freescale MC9S12A512 • 2 SCI, 3 SPI ports • 29 GPIO • 16-bit PWM capability • 112-LQFP
